What is a Thread Lifting?

This procedure provides immediate & long-lasting facial contour reshaping.

As we age our skin begins to suffer gravitational effects and the face starts to become more bottom heavy. This causes visible skin laxity and facial sagging.

I use the Definisse range of threads which are absorbable, monofilament, suspension-barbed threads of synthetic origin. These threads are the result of 10 years of research and studies aimed at achieving an effective solution for a non-surgical, minimally invasive lift. This is achieved in 2 ways:

  1. An immediate lift- the barbs on the threads allow the thread to be anchored once inserted in the tissue giving an immediate effect.
  2. A delayed lift -the Poly L lactic acid of which the thread is made stimulates a fibrotic reaction which tightens and lifts over time.

Is a Thread Lift Right for You?

If you’re seeking a non-surgical way to address loose, saggy skin, reduce wrinkles, and achieve a natural-looking lift, then a Thread Lift could be an ideal choice.

This treatment is perfect for those experiencing a loss of facial volume, sagging cheeks, deep lines, and wrinkles. It’s particularly effective for individuals looking to enhance their facial contours without undergoing invasive procedures.

Your Journey with Thread Lifting

Consultation

Your journey begins with a comprehensive assessment where I evaluate your facial anatomy and discuss the areas you're looking to improve.

Anaesthesia

For your comfort, I administer local anesthesia before the procedure. This ensures a pain-free experience, allowing you to remain comfortable and relaxed throughout the treatment.

Procedure

The procedure involves inserting fine, dissolvable threads under the skin. These threads are then pulled back to lift and smooth the targeted areas, providing an immediate rejuvenating effect.

Aftercare

After the procedure, you may experience minimal downtime with mild bruising or swelling, which typically resolves quickly. I will provide detailed aftercare instructions to ensure optimal healing and results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your Most Common Queries:
Here’s What I’m Often Asked About Thread Lifting

The procedure involves numbing the area with injections of local anaesthetic. These injections can sting for a short time. The procedure itself, once the numbing injections are complete, is painless.

Yes. You have to be prepared for some bruising. You are more likely to bruise if you are on anticoagulants (blood thinners) aspirin, omega 3 fish oils, antidepressants.

Yes for a few days. A cold pack can be used to help this.

Because of the risk of swelling & bruising it would be wise to have no big social events planned for at least 2 weeks after the procedure. Vigorous exercise and over exposure to sun and saunas should be avoided for 2 weeks. Sleep on back for 3-5 nights.

No- it is not advisable to have threads if you have an autoimmmune condition (eg Rheumatoid arthritis, Crohns, and other conditions of the immune system). This is because of the unpredictive nature of the body’s reaction to the threads eg formation of granulomas, allergic reactions. It is not advisable to have threads if you are on long term anticoagulants due to the risk of bleeding, bruising and haematoma formation. It is not advisable to have threads if you are unwell with an illness or infection.

Swelling, bruising as discussed. Skin depressions and irregularities from the barbs of the threads. These can be massaged out or left alone to resolve. Nerve pain or parasthesia (pins and needles) can occur due to the traction of the thread. This usually settles.

Infection (avoided by using a sterile surgical field), allergic reactions (1 in 500 risk resulting in the necessity of thread removal). Thread extrusion (avoided by correct placement of thread).

This depends on your body’s reaction and handling of the threads, but 18 months on average with some lasting 2 years.
